_5 elevated plaza
This project represents a more extensive urban intervention, where an art gallery functions as both an indoor public space and a connector between two parts of the block. Visitors enter the building to experience the artworks displayed in the gallery, but as they follow the route through the space, they eventually arrive at a park that extends over the streets, bridging across traffic.
The square is strategically placed on top of a parking lot and commercial spaces, maximizing urban land use. It seamlessly connects to the other side of the street through a gently sloping staircase, ensuring an accessible and intuitive transition. This design creates an artificial reinterpretation of a mountain landscape, providing pedestrians with a safe and uninterrupted passage across the busy roadway.
With benches and trees providing shade, the park offers a welcoming space for walking, exercising, or simply relaxing beneath the trees, making it both a functional and enjoyable urban environment.
Lessons learned
Soft transition between the city and the building.
Division between cars and pedestrians.
